Some frequently asked questions :

Do palm trees attract rats?
It is true that an occasional rat may make a home in certain species of palm tree. It is also true that the fruit of certain palm trees is a tasty snack for a rat. What is not really true is that having palm trees in your garden means you will be overrun by rats. The dead fronds of the cotton palm that can cover the entire trunk if not pruned, are an ideal nesting site, but it may be that a family of rats has lived there quite happily for years without ever bothering you. If you have a genuine rodent issue, talk to a pest-control specialist as well as us, before you decide to remove a palm tree unnecessarily.

How much does it cost to have my palms cleaned ?
We are often asked to give an estimate over the phone or by email. We understand that some people want to get an idea of price to decide if it is worth arranging a quote visit, but remember that there is ZERO commitment on your part when you ask us to come out to quote you! The price can vary depending on species, height, the amount that need to come off, drag distance...etc. The most common palm in Perth residences is the Cocos (or Queen) palm and normally this costs between $40 - $60 for a palm clean. The unit price comes down for larger quantities.

How often do I need to have my palms cleaned ?
After a good professional prune, your palm trees will look great for a long time. A well established, healthy palm will, however, continue to produce seed pods, and you may want to have these removed along with any dead (or soon to wither) fronds. A re-visit may be required anywhere between 9 and 15 months. Once your palms have been professionally cleaned (to our standard), subsequent visits are likely to be even cheaper, as we only need to remove the debris from one season.

Can you remove all the waste ?
Yes, we can remove all

prunings

and debris. We have all green waste recycled rather than contribute to landfill. If you have a council green waste collection, we will time your work to coincide with it, and discount your job accordingly.

Will the roots of my tree cause damage to my pool or paving ?
Any tree has the potential to spread its roots and lift pavers or damage your landscaping. Some species, however are much more invasive than others. We recently attended a property and confirmed that the roots lifting the pavers in the back garden alfresco where actually from the Ficus on the street verge 75 metres away..... In some cases it is possible to prune roots to prevent or repair damage, but this is not to be undertaken lightly. The removal of roots WILL affect the health of the tree and MAY affect the stability of the tree. In some cases, it is not safe to remove the root without also removing the tree. You do not want a large tree uprooting in a storm and falling through your house......
